What is a thread lift?
Very recently the only way to treat sagging face laxity like sagging jowls and drooping cheeks was a costly surgical facelift done by plastic surgeons.
A thread lift is a type of procedure where temporary sutures are used to produce a subtle but visible lift in the skin. Instead of removing the patient's loose facial skin surgically, the aesthetic physician simply suspends it by stitching up portions of it. This has the effect of pulling the skin back slightly and therefore lifting and tightening of the face or other body parts. In addition to being ideal for lifting the skin, threads combat aging in another way: by provoking the body's healing response and causing the body to create more collagen at treated areas. This is important because collagen plays a vital role in the aging process.
What are the advantages of having a thread lift as compared to surgical face lift?
The greatest advantage of thread lifts is greatly reduced recovery time with thread lift patients can drive home immediately after the procedure since the procedure is done under local anesthesia. A select few patients will experience a little bit soreness, bruising, redness and swelling after a thread lift procedure and may want to take the rest of the day off most however will be able to return to work immediately.
Strong pain medications are seldom needed after having a thread lift procedure making it easier for patients to return to their normal routine.
Thread lift procedures are low risk because they practically non-invasive and there is virtually no risk of scarring, severe bruising, bleeding and other complications. If in very rare cases if patient experiences irritation or threads become visible or get infected, they can be easily pulled out and the patient’s skin or face will return to its prior state.
Finally, the thread lifts are much easier to perform than facelift surgery, so they are much more affordable.
