Alopecia is the medical term for abnormal hair loss that causes patches of baldness. In some cases, hair re-grows after several months; in others hair loss is permanent.
Common causes of alopecia are hormonal irregularities or infections that can be treated by physicians. It is also triggered by emotional and physical stress, severe dieting, anxiety, and depression.
One or more bald patches appear on the scalp which is round in shape and about the size of a coin. Apart from that, scalp usually looks healthy. Occasionally, there might be mild redness, burning, and itchy feeling in the patches.
As this procedure uses body’s own resources to treat hair loss, there are no side effects and no downtime for this treatment.
How will microneedling help?
Microneedling also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT) is a new breakthrough for treating alopecia and hair loss in both male and female. Tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries in the scalp to stimulate the production of proteins that are responsible for the development of new hair follicles thus covering up bald areas.Together with microneedling we can also use Platelet Rich Plasma either alone or with ACell to get better long lasting results
Will you use anesthesia?
Anesthesia is not required for this treatment but we can use topical anesthesia if patient is extremely sensitive to pain.
How many sessions are required?
Usually, 3 sessions are required with a gap of 3 weeks in between each session. Results will be noticeable after the 3rd session. Additional sessions may be required according to the intensity of alopecia.
